What’s On in Bristol This Weekend – 21st to 23rd August 2026

Looking for what’s on in Bristol this weekend?

Bristol has a strong weekend coming up from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd August, with live music on the Harbourside, soul and disco, underground club nights, family festivals and some excellent things to do with the kids.

Here are the Base Radio picks for the weekend.

Friday 21st August – Start the Weekend

Mechanical Animal – Thekla

Friday night starts aboard one of Bristol’s most recognisable music venues.

Mechanical Animal comes to Thekla on Friday 21st August, with doors at 6.30pm.

The event brings together tribute acts celebrating Korn, Nine Inch Nails, Deftones and more.

If you like your Friday night loud, this could be one to check out.

Bristol FREE Rave – Clock Factory

If your Friday night needs considerably more bass, Clock Factory’s Summer Series continues with another Bristol FREE Rave.

This week it’s DJ Jackum & Soulecta, listed from 10pm on Friday 21st August.

A strong pick for anyone looking for Bristol nightlife this weekend.

Summer Family Fun – The Georgian House Museum

Friday doesn’t have to mean waiting until the evening.

The Georgian House Museum is running its Summer Family Fun programme on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd August.

This weekend’s activity celebrates Jane Austen, with activities designed for the whole family.

A good option if you’re looking for something a little quieter during the school holidays.

Saturday 22nd August – Soul, Disco and Bristol Nightlife

Soultasia – Bristol Harbourside

This is probably Base Radio’s headline pick of the weekend.

Soultasia takes over Bristol Amphitheatre and Waterfront Square on Saturday, running from 1pm until 10.30pm.

The touring soul and disco event promises a full afternoon and evening of Soul, Disco and Old School R&B, with names including Kenny Thomas, Jocelyn Brown, Odyssey and Harry Cambridge performing the music of Luther Vandross.

For Base Radio listeners, this feels like a natural fit and one of the standout events happening in Bristol this weekend.

Jungle Summer Motive – Lakota

For a completely different sound, Saturday also brings Leighton x Kuns Jungle Summer Motive to Lakota.

There are plenty of other electronic events happening across Bristol too, including nights at Strange Brew and Clock Factory.

So if soul and disco aren’t your thing, Bristol certainly isn’t short of alternatives.

Sunday 23rd August – One for the Whole Family

Raver Tots Outdoor Festival – Bristol Amphitheatre

Sunday’s big event brings dance music and family entertainment together on the Harbourside.

Raver Tots Outdoor Festival Bristol starts at 12 noon on Sunday 23rd August at Bristol Amphitheatre and Waterfront Square.

This isn’t simply a children’s disco.

The outdoor festival includes a huge open-air stage, funfair and kids’ rides, arts and crafts, face painting, glitter art, street food and a licensed bar for adults.

All ages are welcome, making this one of the more unusual family things to do in Bristol this weekend.

FAMJAM: Road to Carnival – Lakota Gardens

There’s another family option over in Stokes Croft.

FAMJAM: Road to Carnival takes place at Lakota Gardens from 1pm to 5pm on Sunday.

It’s a family-friendly reggae and dancehall celebration in the run-up to Carnival week, with music, Caribbean food, face painting, dancing mascots, local traders and family entertainment.

It sounds like a proper Bristol Sunday afternoon.

Current Joys – Electric Bristol

If you want to finish the weekend with live music rather than family festivities, Current Joys plays Electric Bristol on Sunday evening.

The show is listed from 6.30pm, with fantasy of a broken heart supporting.

Looking for Free Things to Do in Bristol?

Don’t forget Bristol’s museums.

Bristol Museums has its Mini-Museum Hunt: 50 Years of Aardman running through the summer, where families can collect a detective map and hunt for hidden Aardman treasures.

There are also dockside steam train rides running at M Shed during the summer programme.

Or keep things simple.

Take a walk around the Harbourside, wander through Clifton, explore Stokes Croft or grab something to eat around Wapping Wharf.

Sometimes the best things to do in Bristol don’t need much planning at all.

Base Radio’s Weekend Picks

If we had to choose three this week, we’d go for:

Soultasia on Saturday for the music.

Raver Tots on Sunday for families.

Mechanical Animal at Thekla on Friday if you want to start the weekend with something considerably heavier.

Whatever you choose, there’s plenty happening across the city.

Whatever You’re Doing This Weekend…

Make Base Radio part of it.

Whether you’re heading into Bristol, getting ready for a night out, driving somewhere with the family or taking it easy on Sunday, we’ll provide the soundtrack.

Great music all day, every day. No repeats, just more variety.
